The PenDrive is Pilotfish’s first successful royalty deal.
Jonathan Lin founded AddOn in 1991 with the intention to build a brand around products for PCs, and in Europe the company became well known for the PenDrive, a USB memory stick. In 2004, Jonathan offered Pilotfish a long-term partnership based on both royalties and a lump sum to create new products to match PenDrive and to boost AddOn’s brand in Europe. Pilotfish designed a PenDrive MP3 player that earned 10 times the original design budget – talk about a sweet deal.
Apart from the PenDrive MP3 player, Pilotfish also redesigned AddOn and PenDrive’s corporate identity, one of their booths at CeBIT and their product packaging and manuals.
