UNITECH

20 years of partnership

CEO of Unitech Electronics Co. Ltd. Pete Chen signed Pilotfish’s first quote, resulting in Pilotfish’s first official assignment, in October 2000.

Since then, Pilotfish has worked on a wide range of Unitech’s professional products, including enterprise mobile computers, rugged handheld personal digital assistants, industrial tablets, barcode scanners, RFID readers, IoT solutions and the TASHI smart home product line.

The first device that Pilotfish designed was the Windows CE–based Unitech PA962 mobile handheld computer, a professional mobile data collection device that improved productivity in the
warehouse and on the road by dynamically linking data collection with host systems. Its ergonomic design made the PA900 series a benchmark within the rugged portable industrial market. Thanks to their experience with Unitech, Pilotfish then worked on multiple projects for other ruggedised identification and data collection device manufacturers like Trimble Inc. in the U.S. and Skeye. by Höft & Wessel in Germany.

The team effort made Unitech a globally recognised brand in the market for enterprise digital assistants and, in 2010, Pete invited Harm and Marc for a Taiwanese-style dinner in celebration of the 10th anniversary of their partnership. Today, Pilotfish’s Taipei-based design team still works on the newest Unitech products; so, when travelling is once again allowed, the dinner for our 20 years of partnership is on us, Pete!
